If you need your SA302 (Tax Calculation) for a loan application, the quickest way to get it is usually through the HMRC website.

Option 1: Download from HMRC Website

If you filed your tax return yourself via GOV.UK, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your HMRC online account (using your Government Gateway ID).
  2. Go to “Self Assessment”.
  3. Click “More Self Assessment details”.
  4. Click “Get your SA302 tax calculation”.
  5. Select the tax year you need and click “View and print your calculation”.

Note: If you just submitted your return, you usually have to wait 72 hours before you can download this form.

Don’t Forget: The “Tax Year Overview”

Most lenders won’t accept an SA302 on its own; they also need the Tax Year Overview to prove you paid the tax.

To get this:

  1. Go back to the main Self Assessment page in your HMRC account.
  2. Click “View account”.
  3. Click “Tax years” on the left-hand menu.
  4. Choose the year you need and click “Print your Tax Year Overview”.

Option 2: Using Commercial Software

If you or your accountant used software like QuickBooks, Xero, or TaxCalc to file, your SA302 might not be on the HMRC website.

You must log into that specific software and look for an option to print your “Tax Computation” or “Tax Calculation.” Lenders generally accept this version as well.

What is an SA302 form?

Your SA302 (officially called a Tax Calculation) is the main document UK lenders use to verify self-employed income. It provides official proof of exactly how much you earned and how much tax you owed for a specific year.
